Our Story: Windsor Point Retirement Community

To meet the needs of their aging neighbors, Riley a farmer and Margaret Evans, a school teacher, constructed a small rest home and several other small houses in Bladen County.

They had five children that all schooled at North Carolina Universities and all settled in North Carolina with their families. They instilled the same desire of providing affordable, housing, quality health care for seniors in each of their children. Their children worked very hard to continue their parents’ dream by so doing have developed numerous communities that offer housing and an exceptional health care for seniors today.

The request of their residents stirred the family up to start a Continuing Care Retirement Community. The desire of the residents was to be able to live in a community that the Evans family operate and not having to move from their community if they have any health challenge. The family finally decided to meet the demand for their families and residence, after they have carefully researched and visits other proceeding care retirement communities in the area.

Fuquay-Varina was agreed to be the choice place to build; after the Evans family have surveyed several small towns in North Carolina. The convenience to accommodate all the resources of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill was the emphasis and not the size. They bought 17 acres on Wilbon Road and Highway 55 in 1995 and less than one year, they got to land, finance, plans, start-up certificate from the Department of Insurance, and their first resident.

We have embraced many new faces to the Windsor Point family since 1995, and we will continue to do so. We have become the best secret kept in the Triangle! And the rest is history!
